The city of St. Louis has reported its first death from COVID-19. The victim is a woman in her 30s who was hospitalized and tested positive on Sunday.
St. Louis now has 14 confirmed cases, and St. Louis County reports 55 cases. On Monday afternoon, St. Charles County announced three new positive cases. The residents are a male in his 70s, and two females, one in her 20s and one in her 80s. The cases are the first community-acquired in St. Charles County, meaning they are not travel related.
In an effort to curb the spread of the virus, The Stay at Home order, announced by county executive, Sam Page, and St. Louis Mayor Lyda Krewson, goes into effect at 6 pm. tonight (Monday, March 23). The new restrictions will ensure that residents can meet their basic needs and that essential services will still be provided. They require people to stay at home, when possible.
After Monday, residents will still be able to go to the grocery store, the pharmacy, and take a walk in a public park in both jurisdictions.
