TEDxGatewayArch Featuring Bold, Brilliant Women

The next TEDxGatewayArch event, emceed by media personality Heidi Glaus, will feature bold and brilliant St. Louis women in government, innovation, education, spirituality and more. The event takes place on Thursday, Dec. 5, at America’s Center’s Ferrara Theatre.

The lineup features six speakers, including St. Louis treasurer Tishaura Jones, who will talk about her financial savings idea that came to life in a big way, helping secure the future of children, citywide. Public art planner Meridith McKinley will discuss the power and potential of art to unite communities and change perspectives. McKinley has managed many high-profile public art projects and led art plans for communities throughout North America.

The lineup also includes Maryville University professor Leilani Carver-Madalon, Ph.D., an explorer who seeks to challenge women to create their own adventures of learning and connection; Washington University professor Sophia E. Hayes, Ph.D., who will share her passion for combating climate change; children’s book author Rebecca Clark, who will speak about the importance of channeling imaginations at an early age; and Susan Maginn, the first female chaplain to serve an all-male training battalion who shares how divorce can teach us a lot about the spiritual gifts of integrity, acceptance, forgiveness, generosity and renewal.
