Gazelle Media seeks digitally savvy, resourceful freelance news writers who live and breathe local news to generate content for stlcountynews.com. These are freelance positions that pay on a per story basis or a negotiated weekly or monthly rate. Two years of news writing experience for print or online news sources is preferred.
Qualifications:
- Proven ability to work independently and remotely under tight deadlines without compromising editorial standards.
- Ability to pitch story ideas based on breaking news trends and community happenings.
- An excellent grasp of grammar is critical, and previous experience with AP Style is a plus.
- An understanding of SEO best practices is also a plus.
- Ability to upload, write and edit content in our CMS is preferred.
- Collaborate with editors to distribute breaking news quickly through website, alerts, social media and other channels.
- Prior experience using Facebook, Twitter and Instagram is required.
