Investigations to Wrap Up Soon at St. Louis County Justice Center

0

Investigators are interviewing several employees via phone and video conference and conducting mandatory, anonymous employee online surveys at St. Louis County Justice Center. Meanwhile, retired federal probation officer Douglas Burris will serve as acting director, replacing Raul Banasco who resigned last month amid allegations of a toxic work environment.

St. Louis County hired Vera Causa Group LLC to assess personnel concerns in the Justice Center. VCG is run by former St. Louis circuit attorney Jennifer Joyce and public relations and communications consultant Susan Ryan.

“As the chief legal counsel for the county, I want to make sure that each of you is working in an environment in which you feel supported and heard,” county counselor Beth Orwick said in a letter to employees. “As a result of complaints brought to my attention, I have arranged for an investigation of personnel matters and other issues in the justice center.”

In their work, the VCG investigators will also identify areas of review for a comprehensive investigation of the Justice Services Department. The data collected will be included in a confidential report for the St. Louis County counselor.
