Having tea and cookies is a daily custom and comfort shared by many, and forms the basis for the newest installation of Craft Alliance’s Biennial Teapot Exhibition, running through Feb. 23, at the Delmar Loop Gallery.

In this exhibition, both locally and nationally renowned artists were challenged to think about their own tea-time experiences, the pairing of food and beverage, and to create a conversation around the two objects that underlie that ritual: the teapot and the cookie jar. Each artist in this exhibition has created his or her own teapot and cookie jar in ceramics – a traditional medium used to create both functional and decorative work.

For over three decades Craft Alliance has presented the Biennial Teapot Exhibition to the community, and with this newest edition, “Tea and Cookies,” the emphasis has been placed on the delight shared by those who partake in these daily respites, eliciting in viewers their own fond memories of time spent in quiet contemplation or conversation over tea and cookies.
