Parkway School District superintendent, Dr. Keith Marty, announced this morning that due to St. Louis County’s latest social distancing mandates, which prohibit gatherings of more than 50 people and limit businesses to 25% capacity, the school district will only offer virtual learning.
The news comes after the district conducted surveys with parents in which 67% preferred in-person classes.
“We realize this will be a disappointment for families who chose the in-person experience. It is disappointing to us as well,” Marty said. “We worked extremely hard to find a way to get students back in school. We remain committed to getting students back in the schools as soon as possible because that is where they thrive the best. We will re-evaluate prior to the end of the nine-week quarter on Oct. 23.”
Parkway joins Kirkwood and St. Louis school districts who also recently announced 100% online learning.
