St. Louis Organizations Get Creative With Pride Month Events

0

It goes without saying that we will miss the energy of parades and events to celebrate Pride Month and raise awareness about the LGBTQIQ community, but event planners have rebounded with creative events to spread the message of equality.

Tower Grove Pride rescheduled the annual Pride Festival to Aug. 29, but rebounded creatively for Pride Month with the first ever “Pride Care-a-Van” a noncontact event that takes place on June 28. Attendees will deck their cars out in all kinds of pride-ful ways, and wind through neighborhoods and parks, passing by onlookers. Click link to register.

The 13th Annual QFest St. Louis, presented by Cinema St. Louis, will take place from June 19 to 28. The festival uses the art of contemporary gay cinema to spotlight the lives of LGBTQIQ people and to celebrate queer culture. All programs will be virtual, with recorded and live introductions, and Q&As will be available for most film programs. A record 40 films will be presented, including the St. Louis premiere of the new bio-doc “The Capote Tapes,” about renowned novelist, playwright and social butterfly Truman Capote (“In Cold Blood,” “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”). Pride St. Louis has postponed PrideFest 2020 to Aug. 15 and 16, at the parks across from St. Louis city hall. This year’s theme is “We are Family.”
